Beta opening soon for organisers

Run your committee.
Skip the notebook.

Jama keeps an end-to-end encrypted ledger, sends WhatsApp reminders and tracks every payout for your committee, kitty or bishi. Members keep paying each other directly on UPI.

The problem

Organising a committee comes with a lot of unpaid admin.

Moving the money is easy. The hard part is keeping track of it month after month.

The ledger lives in a notebook

Ten members, twelve months, dozens of entries. Miss one tick and nobody is sure who has paid.

Collecting means chasing

You remind every member one by one, then match UPI screenshots scattered across a busy group chat.

Questions about fairness

Whose turn is it? How was the order decided? When the records sit with one person, doubts creep in.

How it works

Set it up once. Jama handles every cycle after that.

1

Create the committee

Set the monthly amount, number of members, cycles and due date, and choose how the payout order is decided.

2

Invite your members

Add the people you already run it with. Everyone sees the same schedule, amount and rules.

3

Jama keeps track

Members pay on UPI as usual. Confirm each payment with a tap, and the ledger and WhatsApp updates take care of themselves.

One app, two views

For the person running the group, and everyone in it.

Organiser view

The whole committee on one screen.

See who has paid, who hasn't and who gets this month's payout without scrolling back through a chat.

  • Cycle at a glance

Which month you're on, what has come in and what's still outstanding.

  • Remind only the members who haven't paid

Send reminders in one tap. Members who've already paid don't get nagged.

  • Record payments and payouts

Confirm a UPI payment or the month's payout, and the ledger and the group update straight away.

Member view

Members always know where they stand.

Confirmations, reminders and payouts all land in one place, so nobody has to ask the organiser whether their payment came through.

  • Payment confirmations

Once the organiser records a payment, the member gets a confirmation on WhatsApp.

  • Reminders before the due date

A heads-up a couple of days before the deadline.

  • Payouts, announced

Everyone can see who received each month's pot and when their own turn comes.

Home

Organiser in one group, member in the rest.

Most people run one committee and belong to a few others. Jama lists them all on one home screen and opens the right view for each.

  • Every group in one place

Office, family and society groups, each showing its own status.

  • Know when your turn comes

See which month your payout lands in for every group you're in.

Payout order

However your group decides the order, it's on record.

Choose the method when you create the committee. Every member can see the order and the results.

Fixed schedule

Agree the order upfront, so everyone knows their month from day one.

Lucky draw

Draw a name each cycle. Everyone in the group can see the result.

Bidding

Members who need the money sooner can bid for it. Every bid and the winning one are recorded.

Features

Everything an organiser needs, nothing they don't.

Automatic WhatsApp updates

Confirmations, reminders and payout news reach members on the app they already use.

Direct UPI payments

Members pay with any UPI app. Jama records the payment. It doesn't process it.

A ledger that adds up

Every payment, cycle and payout in one history the whole group can check.

Targeted reminders

Only members with a payment due get reminded. Everyone else is left alone.

Payout history

Who received each cycle's pot, when, and how the order was decided.

End-to-end encrypted

Records and messages are readable only by the committee's members. Our servers only store data we can't read.

Privacy and trust

Private by design. Hands off your money.

End-to-end encrypted

Your committee's ledger, payments and messages are encrypted on members' phones. Only people in the committee can read them; our servers store data we can't read. Members who choose to use Jama over WhatsApp instead of the app are the one exception, explained here.

Never holds your money

Members pay each other directly on UPI. Jama only records the payment and never collects, pools or moves funds.

Jama is a record-keeping and reminder tool for groups you run with people you know. It is not a bank, payment service or chit fund.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Jama hold or move our money?
No. Members pay each other directly on UPI, just as they do today. Jama records who has paid, reminds those who haven't and tracks payouts. It never holds, pools or transfers funds.
Who can join the beta?
The first beta is for committee organisers, the people who run the group and keep the accounts. Once you're in, you can invite your members to your committee.
What kinds of groups does it work for?
Any group where members pay a fixed amount each cycle and one member receives the pot: committees, kametis, bishis, kitty groups, office pools, family circles and society funds.
How do members get updates?
Members get payment confirmations, reminders and payout updates on WhatsApp. They can also open Jama to see their group's full schedule and history.
How is the payout order decided?
You choose when you set up the committee: a fixed schedule, a lucky draw each cycle, or bidding. Whichever you pick, every member can see the order and the results.
Who can see our committee's details?
Only the members of your committee. The ledger, payment records and messages are end-to-end encrypted, so they can only be read on members' own phones. Jama's servers store encrypted data that we cannot read. If a member chooses to take part over WhatsApp instead of the app, Jama acts for them there with their explicit agreement; the privacy policy explains exactly how.
Is Jama a chit fund?
No. Jama is software for keeping track of a savings group you already run with people you know. It doesn't collect money, act as a foreperson or offer any financial product.
When does the beta start?
Jama is in internal testing. We'll invite organisers from the list in batches. Sign up below and we'll email you when your spot opens.
